  • Therapeutic Shampoos

  • Finish Brushing

  • Blow Drying the Pets Coat

  • Bathing & Drying Safety

  • Fleas/Ticks protocols for the salon

Finishing Pet Stylist 102

Course Objectives:

Upon Completion of this course the student should be able to understand and demonstrate:

  • Why and how to Outline Shape

  • Proper Guide Blade Techniques

  • Fine Finish Techniques

  • The Five Major Breed Designs – Poodle, Long-legged Terrier, Spaniel, Teddy Bear, Short-legged Terrier and how the skills required for these Breed Designs transfer to the other Breeds.

  • Proper Scissoring and Thinning Shear Techniques

  • Professionalism in Pet Styling

  • Dental Hygiene

  • How to Prioritize your Time

  • How to do Bow Application and Creative Grooming Techniques and Finishing Touches

Cat Grooming

Course will touch on teaching students the following procedures:

  • Anatomy of the Cat

  • Cat Breeds and Coloring

  • Safe Handling Techniques

  • Stylist Safety

  • Stress in Cats

  • Product Awareness

  • Tools & Equipment

  • Hands-on Cat Grooming

Salon Management

This portion of the course the students will be shown:

  • The difference between basic business entities (sole proprietorship, LLC, Corporation)

  • Choosing a business name why it’s important to register it.

  • Which equipment is needed to open for business.

  • Salon design

  • How to choose a software program and set up scheduling

  • Basic bookkeeping

  • The Budget/Cash Flow

  • Pricing

  • Hiring and maintaining employees

  • Choosing and reaching your target market

  • How to write a Business Plan
